Your flush can no longer perform its role of removing excrement from the toilet bowl and flushing your toilet? Well, don't worry! You can fix this kind of problem yourself by simply replacing your flush.
Moreover, be aware that a defective flush can cause significant water loss while increasing your water bill in a very short time. So you have to intervene urgently.
Get the Right Tools
First, start by gathering all the tools you need to replace your toilet flush. Among other things, you will need an adjustable wrench, water pump pliers, an open-end wrench, a flat screwdriver, and a wrench for tightening the drain bell.
Shut off the general water supply and remove the cover Next, you must close the water supply tap, and you must flush the toilet to empty the tank. You must also remove the tank cover by unscrewing the flush push button and removing it. And try to put this cover on a towel or a cloth, because it is very fragile.
Removing the Old Flush
To remove your old flush, you require unscrewing the nut using an open end wrench. Then, you must remove the float valve from the tank by unscrewing it with an open-end wrench. You should also remove the body of the defective flush mechanism using a counterclockwise rotary motion.
Removing the gasket from the tank
To continue, you require unscrewing the nuts that seal the tank to the bowl and pull the screws out from above. Then you have to lift the latter and put it on the ground on one of its sides. After that, you must remove the used gasket, and you must unscrew the tank fixing system using a suitable wrench.
Clean and reinstall the tank
If you notice scale or residue inside your tank, you should go through the cleaning box before reinstalling it on the bowl. Then you have to screw to the bottom of the tank, and you have to position the new foam gasket. You must also insert the washer and the conical seal on the tank fixing screws, and you must replace the tank, the nuts and the conical rubber seal.
Reassemble the valve and the float and install the new flush
Finally, you must reassemble the valve and the float, and you must install your new flush. Adjust the height of the new mechanism according to the size of the tank, place it at the bottom of the tank and secure it in a quarter-turn rotation.
